  • Which Eeveelution Is The Best?

There are over a thousand Pokémon, each unique in their own way, but some are much more popular than others. Among these popular Pokémon is Eevee, beloved by fans for its cute fox-like appearance and the various Pokémon types it can evolve into. While in past games, it wasn't possible to encounter Eevee's evolved forms out and about, recent games have changed this to include even Eevee's evolutions appearing in the wild.

Eevee has been one of the early series Pokémon to maintain its popularity throughout the years. It has been so popular that when Nintendo re-made Pokémon Yellow into Let's Go Pikachu, it also made another version where trainers could start their journeys with Eevee instead — Let's Go Eevee. Eevee and its Eeveelutions are still difficult to find in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but knowing where to look can make finding them much easier.

Updated on July 1, 2024, by Antonio Samson: Since the start of the series, Eevee has been known for all the unique Pokémon it can evolve into. There are currently eight different Eeveelutions. Pokémon HOME is a fantastic tool for Nintendo Switch users to take advantage of, especially when it comes to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Many trainers look to catch an Eevee early in their journeys, though most games don't always make this easy. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, these Normal-type Pokémon spawn in grassy areas surrounding specific towns and cities. Players wanting to know where to find Eevee in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet should look in the grassy areas surrounding Medali — the town north of Area Zero — and the area directly to the west of Cortondo, which is southwest of Mesagoza.

Eevee can also be found in the pathway between Mesagoza and the Pokémon League. Players should note that, in other games, the path leading to the Pokémon League is full of high-leveled Pokémon. This is not the case in Paldea, so players can head straight there right after finishing the introduction.

Players looking at their maps should see a huge body of water in the northern part of Paldea. This is Casseroya Lake, where they'll encounter the False Dragon Titan during the Path of Legends questline. It's also one of the areas where Vaporeon can be found swimming. This is a great area to look for Vaporeon as it's the biggest body of water on the map. Vaporeon can also be found in Area Six of the South Province, along the coast of the West Paldean Sea. Players can also check in the rivers of Glaseado Mountain and by the bodies of water in the North Province, Areas One and Two.

Players can, alternatively, evolve an Eevee into a Vaporeon using a Water Stone. Water Stones can be found in Cascarrafa, Area Zero, and South Province Area Four. It's also a reward for catching and registering 80 Pokémon. Other, more infinitely repeatable, locations include Delibird Presents, Tera Raid Battles, and sparkling overworld items in Aeras One and Two in the East Province, and Areas One and Three in the North Province.

Flareon is a rare encounter in Paldea and is mostly found in the regions north of Area Zero. Players can find this fiery fox along the edges of the Glaseado Mountain and in the Dalizapa Passage's grassy areas, which lead into the mountain. Players should check out North Province (Area One) and the northeastern shore of Casseroya Lake during their Flareon hunt. Flareon can also be found in South Province's Area Six but in the drier parts of this particular province.

If players can't track down this Eeveelution, they can evolve an Eevee with a Fire Stone instead. Fire Stones can be found in Aera Zero, and Areas Two and Three in the East Province. It's also a reward for catching and registering 60 Pokémon. Infinitely repeatable methods include Delibird Presents, Tera Raid Battles, and sparkling overworld items in Area Three in the East Province.

Jolteon can only be found in the wild in two areas in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region. The first is Area Three of the West Province, between Medali and Casseroya Lake. The second area is the Socarrat Trail, located in the far northern section of the map, near the North Paldean Sea. It can be tricky to reach Socarrat, but it can be accessed by swimming across Casseroya Lake. If Scarlet and Violet's mascots Koraidon and Miraidon can't swim yet, the area is accessible by following the narrow path northwest of Casseroya Watchtower 3.

Players who can't track down Jolteon can use a Thunder Stone on an Eevee to cross this Pokémon off their list. Thunder Stones can be found in Levincia, Casseroya Lake, and West Province Area One. It's also a reward for catching and registering 30 Pokémon. Infinitely repeatable methods include Delibird Presents, Tera Raid Battles, and sparkling overworld items in Area Three in the East Province.

Espeon is a popular Pokémon even outside the Eeveelution family. It can be found in the area immediately north of Medali and south of Casseroya Lake, which is Area Three of the West Province. It can also be found in North Province (Area Three), located in the far north of the map, above Glaseado Mountain.

After beating the game, players can also find Espeon in Area Zero. Take note that Espeon can only be encountered during the day. Espeon evolves from Eevee with a high friendship level and evolves during the day. Players should remember that the Eevee must not have any Fairy-type moves learned to evolve into Espeon.

Umbreon can be difficult to track down, but luckily it shares its in-game locations with a few other Eeveelutions. While players search Dalizapa Passage for Flareon, they can also find Umbreon. While Flareon is found in the grassy areas of this region, Umbreon is instead found in the Passage's large cave.

It also shares South Province (Area Six) with the Fire-type Flareon and Water-type Vaporeon, and North Province (Area Three) with Espeon. However, players should know that Umbreon is only found in grassy areas at night. Likewise, to get Umbreon via evolution, players need to have an Eevee with high friendship and no Fairy-type moves and level it up when it's dark out, as it's one of the few Pokémon that only evolve at night.

Glaceon Is The Ice-Type Eeveelution

Unlike the other Eeveelutions in this family, Glaceon can only be found in one place in Paldea, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Glaceado Mountain, the large icy mountain range to the north of the map, is where players might encounter Glaceon — if they're lucky. Navigating Glaceado Mountain is nothing to take lightly since many peaks, drops, and high cliffs are scattered throughout the area.

For this reason, players might find it easier to get a Glaceon by evolving an Eevee with an Ice Stone. Ice Stones can be found in Glaseado Mountain and Dalizapa Passage. Infinitely repeatable methods include the Porto Marinada auction and sparkling overworld items in Glaseado Mountain.

Leafeon is another tricky Eeveelution to track down. Fortunately, it has two spawn locations and both of them are the same as Jolteon's. This makes it a little easier for players looking to collect all the Eeveelutions, as they can search for two simultaneously. Leafeon can be found at the Socarrat Trail, by the North Paldean Sea — and the West Province's Area Three — between Medali and Casseroya Lake.

Players who would rather evolve their Eevee into Leafeon can do so by exposing their Eevee to a Leaf Stone. Leaf Stones can be found in Tagtree Thicket and Artazon as a reward in Sunflora Hide & Seek. Infinitely repeatable methods include Delibird Presents, Tera Raid Battles, and sparkling overworld items in Tagtree Thicket.

Sylveon is another fan-favorite Eevee that is especially popular partly because it's one of the strongest Eeveelutions available. The first place that Sylveon can be found is outside Alfornada in South Province's Area Six. Players should try not to stray too far from the town when searching for Sylveon, as it usually spawns close to Alfornada.

Sylveon can also be found in the West Province's Area Three, but only in the northeastern region — so be careful not to go too far when searching here. It can also be added to a trainer's team by evolving a high friendship level Eevee at any time of the day, while it has a Fairy-type move in its moveset.

Best Approach To Getting All Eeveelutions

There Are Terastalized Eeveelutions All Over Paldea

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet: Where To Find Every Eeveelution (11)

These Eeveelutions will take quite a while to find, even while knowing their general locations, so it might be worth catching one of them and breeding a couple of Eevees to evolve or transfer an Eevee from Pokémon Home. However, these will still be a bit of a drain on resources. Raising friendship for a Pokémon that won't spend time in the player's party can waste valuable time.

Players should remember that every Eeveelution can also be found as a special Terastallized form — a key gimmick for tackling Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Tera Raids — in set locations. However, these Terastallized Eeveelutions will often be quite overpowered compared to the other Pokémon in the area, and they don't always coincide with their Pokédex locations, so they can be quite difficult to track down.

Sylveon is a standout choice in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for several reasons. Its type advantage against Dragon, Fighting, and Dark types is strategically significant. For instance, its Fairy-type moves are super effective against Dragon types, which are often powerful in battles. Similarly, its resistance to Fighting and Dark types gives it a tactical edge. Sylveon's impressive Special Defense allows it to absorb hits from special attackers, providing team stability.

Its hidden ability, Pixilate, boosts Normal-type moves by transforming them into Fairy-type moves, making attacks like Hyper Voice incredibly powerful. Sylveon's versatile movepool includes Hyper Voice (a strong offensive move), Mystical Fire (which can counter Steel types), and Psyshock (effective against Poison and Fighting types). These moves allow Sylveon to adapt to various battle situations.

Sylveon shines in singles and doubles formats, using Helping Hand to boost its partner's moves in doubles or providing consistent damage output. Its defensively solid stats, powerful moves, and versatile utility make it a top choice for trainers in casual and competitive play. Thanks to its branching evolutions, Eevee is one of the most versatile Pokémon since its introduction in Generation I. Even with eight "Eeveelutions" available, Sylveon makes a compelling case for being the strongest.
